Field Notes

Description:

Very small lizard with a habit of waving one front leg when he stops. Darts around really fast.

Habitat:

Spotted in Lawn Hill Natinal Park racing around among the rocks

Notes:

Very cute critter.

This one sure did a lot of waving! Was quite funny to watch. Took so many photos trying to capture it but it was too fast
You're Welcome Kerry. Indeed. I was perplexed. Maybe these wave too although I couldn't find that.
Thanks S Frazier. Was told by the locals that it was a Ta Ta Lizard and the fact that it waved every time it stopped made me believe them. I will edit the spotting.
Very interesting! I read that Ta Ta lizard is another name for Gilbert’s Dragon, Amphibolurus gilberti and the range and behavior sure fits the bill but I haven't seen an image that matches. It looks like the suggestion species. Then I found this quote "Looks like a ring tailed dragon Mick (Ctenophorus caudicinctus) but most people I know call them ta-ta's even though they're not really ta-ta's." on http://www.ausph.com/showthread.php/16565-A-friendly-dragon
