Field Notes

Description:

An elegant shorebird with long neck, curved bill and stripped head.

Habitat:

Seen landing on sandy beaches and brackish lagoons close to Freetown, in mangrove ecosystem - coastal ecosystem composed mainly of Red Mangrove tree (Rhizophora mangle, pic No 5).
