Description:

This was an old Hackberry tree with a hollow center. Honeybees had taken up residence in the hollow center.

Habitat:

Hackberry tree near garden.

Notes:

It was cool and while the bees were active, there were not a lot of them flying in and out. Only a few were in the entrance, and they are hard to see in the photos.

Yes. In the second photo you can see one on the side of the entrance hole. Unfortunately the shadow went right across the entrance, making it hard to see, as well as hard to get the camera to focus.
