Description:
The Great White Egret or Great Egret is a large heron, up to 3 feet tall, with all-white plumage. This egret can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet. Males and females are identical in appearance.They feed in shallow water or drier habitats, feeding mainly on fish, frogs, small mammals, and occasionally small reptiles and insects.
Habitat:
Both freshwater and saltwater habitats. wetlands; marshes, swamps, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, impoundments, lagoons, tidal flats, canals, ditches, fish-rearing ponds, flooded farm fields, and sometimes upland habitats. During breeding season they colonize in trees and shrubs near lakes, ponds, marshes and estuaries.
