Cutleaf evening primrose
Oenothera laciniata
37.4051, -77.7035
Field Notes
Description:
Of several evening primroses found in central Virginia, this is the only species that is commonly considered a noxious weed. It generally has a prostrate growth form compared to the erect growth of other evening primroses. As the common name suggests, the leaves are deeply cut or lobed.
Notes:
The plant is native where I found it, but has invaded other states and countries.
