Description:
Females typically lay their eggs at the base of squash plants. The caterpillars develop and feed inside the stalks. With enough feeding damage, the entire plant may eventually die. Adults are diurnal and are often seen taking nectar from flowers.
Habitat:
Much of the U.S., except the Pacific coast. In areas of squash plants; farms, gardens.
Notes:
Damage to squash plants can be prevented by wrapping the base of squash plants with a protective cover.
