Field Notes

Description:

This little Owl frequents our place occasionally. I think the best way to describe him/her is kinda round, short deep wings and so very very quiet! ~AB

Habitat:

Nocturnal, eats small rodents and probably moths too.

Ninox boobook

Definitely hard to tell which from such a small photo, maybe listen to the different owl calls online and see if you can identify it that way! :) What a cute little guy!
I would say a Boobook Owl (Ninox boobook) or a Southern Boobook Owl (Ninox novaeseelandiae)
Not sure without confirmation but it looks like a Barking Owl
