@randp1 - The spider was approximately the size of a 50 cent piece and the web was huge; like 2 to 2 1/2 feet across.
One question....about how big were the spider and its web? It's a little hard to tell from the photo.
Please consider adding this spotting to the Animal Architecture mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8082378
@JamesFunk - That's an awesome picture. I absolutely love spiders. Thanks again!
Check this link ....http://www.insectidentification.org/insect-description.asp?identification=Spotted-Orb-Weaver.....Check out my spottings, there is a photo of a Marbled Orbweaver...that is the one that got me interested in ID'ing spiders
@JamesFunk - I do believe you're right. I had to look through a lot of pictures, but I eventually found some pictures nearly identical to mine on this site: http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/spiders/Neoscona%20oaxacensis.htm I'm going to edit the spotting now. Thank you!
Try looking up Spotted Orbweaver, check the pattern and four dots on the back. I can't say that is what it is but that is the closest I have found so far.
