Spotting Video

Field Notes

Description:

A friendly stick insect, probably a resident of my potted garden. It becomes invisible once it perched itself on the twigs of the potted plants.

Habitat:

Gardens and farms. Tropics.

Bulusan, Sorsogon, Philippines

Notes:

This post is really about the video clip of a seemingly dancing stick insect. The swaying to and fro movement was so rhythmic that for me I was seeing it dance to an unknown music. According to stick insect literature, the swaying movement is also a kind of mimicry. But this time, it is mimicking the swaying of the wind. Remarkable!
