Field Notes

Description:

Although the male of this species is a very azure blue the female is actually a bright neon green (photo 4 and 5), it is part of the tanager family and is fairly small at around 5 inches long. Its main source of food is fruit as seen in the same two photos, although it does also feed on nectar and insects occasionally.

Habitat:

A forest inhabitant seen in the grounds of Asa Wright's nature centre. Arima Trinidad.
