The leaves and fruit look like R. verticillatus (formerly R. floridanus). Definitely not curly dock (R. crispus). I just don't know the genus well enough to know if there's another species that verticillatus might get confused with.
What a great lead! But wow so many! Do you suppose it might be the obvious choice for location, rumex floridanus? Or the equally plausible rumex crispus?
It's some species of Rumex.
