I have searched Beetles of Borneo http://borneobeetles.myspecies.info/ and found no result for neolucanus and one result for Odontolabis which is a close match except the wing cover colour: http://borneobeetles.myspecies.info/content/lucanidae-odontolabis-sp
Malcolm This could be a Odontolabis sp.or Neolucanus sp. Male or female ? Sorry I cant be more helpful,
Calculated size is 3.4 to 4.2cm. It was taken from close to min focus distance which is 4.9 feet, using 300mm with a 2:1 factor (600mm 35mm equivalent).
No, unfortunately not, I recall maybe 3-4cm? I can check the original camera data, it is often possible to calculate size from the zoom and focus data, but it's not easy, nor is it always accurate.
This is a female Stag Beetle Did you record the size approx.?
