I have tons of gray squirrels (I counted 14 a couple times) and a couple red squirrels. They can't get past the baffles to the seed feeders, but they are constantly eating the suet I have hanging on a tree trunk.
Luckily the only squirrel I have that comes is a red squirrel. I noticed three Starlings liked the peanut butter especailly and I think it brought in the only Nuthatch I have had. I got the idea from another person on Noah.
Alice, I bet the woodpeckers love that peanut butter as long as they get there before the squirrels:-) I have 2 suet feeders the woodpeckers were using, plus a few seed feeders for the other birds.
On the worst snowy days, I smear crunchy peanut butter on my feeder and our Basswood tree!
