Field Notes

Description:

About 40mm long. Aligned along the edge of a eucalyptus leaf; fine blue dorsal line, two fine yellow lines along each shoulder; red spiricules; head flattened with red pads divided vertically; eight pseudo legs.

Habitat:

Eucalyptus leaves; this one edging a local sports park.

Notes:

A geometrid found in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW. The moth becomes an unusual looking brown moth with red venation; a face with a forehead tuft that resembles a hedgehog.... here's the moth spotted 3 months later http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/30735028
