Field Notes

Description:

This plant had a leaf venation of netted pinnate, a whorled arrangement, and an ovate/slightly deltoid shape. The leaf was 16.5 cm long, and 8.5 cm wide, while the leaf margins were denticulate. The leaf texture was hairy and fuzzy. The bark was also had rough bristles on it. Koster's Curse does produce flowers and fruit, but it wasn't at the time.

Habitat:

This plant was found by a path in a secondary rainforest in Singapore.

Notes:

Koster's Curse is an invasive species, originally from Central America. It can grow from 1-5 meters tall, and if you introduce this plant to Australia, you may be fined up to $60,000 in Australian dollars. It also produces black berries all year round.
