Description:

evergreen perennial small tree or dense shrub about 20 feet tall; leaves alternate, simple, elliptic, smooth, entire, tough; tiny 3/16 inch creamy white flowers blooming now and since February in 2 " clusters;

Habitat:

urban schoolyard

Notes:

in rose family; grows fast; leaves of all Prunus species contain hydrocyanic acid though has almond taste are toxic and should never be eaten; deer resitant; drought tolerant; attracts birds who eat died fruit, nectar source
