Field Notes

Description:

This snake is around 1 ft long (12in) and is easily picked up, as shown in the picture. It has a Carnelian colored head, with black all around the rest of its body. I'm aware there are two types of snakes that look like this, and this is the non venomous one. When I felt it, its skin was pretty much the same as human skin, but a little more smooth. Definitely wasn't a slimy feel.

Habitat:

The Singapore Dairy Farm

Species ID Suggestions

Pink Headed Reed Snake

Calamaria schlegeli

I think that this might be what you were looking at. Please check my reference and see if you agree. If so, you need to change the common and scientific name in your description.
Great description to start with. You may consider behavior and activity. What was its skin like? Also, a scientific name is different than the common name. The "Digging Snake" might be the common name, but there is a name that scientists give to it to differentiate it from other snakes like it. Find that name, and you have your first official spotting.
