Habitat:

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Suffolk, VA, USA

Notes:

True to its taxonomy as a perching duck, it was spotted perching on the wooden handrail of the new Cypress Boardwalk. The boardwalk spans a small ditch of water along side Interior Ditch (between Railroad Ditch and West Ditch).
