Field Notes

Description:

The only woodpecker with a completely red head. Beautiful solid black and white patterns on the body, tail, and wings.

Habitat:

A small patch of woods near a highway, neighborhood, and soccer fields. There is a surprising amount of wildlife in this small little patch of woods.

Notes:

This is a more uncommon species of woodpecker, but I've gotten lucky and discovered a small population of them living in a certain area.

Thank you! I only wish I would've had my shutter speed a bit faster and had Lightroom at the time I took this. It probably would've looked a little better, but I still like this because I haven't seen one of these since then!
