Description:

Common Names: Fountain Tree, African Tulip Tree, Pichkari or Nandi Flame. Native to tropical dry forests of Africa, an ornamental tree planted throughout the tropics that has become invasive in certain tropical areas. Zones 10 - 12. Height: 24 - 80 feet. Bloom color: Orange, yellow, red. The open flowers are cup-shaped that hold rain, making them attractive to many species of birds including many species of hummingbirds.

Habitat:

Native to Africa. Naturalized in many parts of the Pacific. Tropical dry forests. Light: Full Sun - Part Shade. Water: Moist.

Notes:

This very large tree was observed from a foot bridge along the El Tuito River.
