Field Notes

Description:

These little birds were flitting around between the cones, apparently eating the seeds. They were pretty numerous, but hard to take a shot of.

Habitat:

Scrubby coniferous forest atop a rocky cliff in the piedmont region of SC.

Notes:

I think this is a Golden-crowned Kinglet, but need confirmation.

Hi Bullinger, if you could crop this picture down in size the bird would display much bigger as all the pictures we display are shrunk to fit our displays. A crop to 600x600 would give a good result for our main display pages, although 1200x1200 can be used on the first picture only, although most users do not have displays that big! You are correct about it being a Golden-crowned Kinglet.
