Field Notes

Habitat:

Their habitat includes almost any expanse of shallow, fish-filled water, including rivers, lakes, reservoirs, lagoons, swamps, and marshes. They use open, usually elevated nest sites free from predatory mammals.

Notes:

Lots of them nesting in the area. Here is one who had caught a young barracuda. There was another nearby with the back half of a Mahi-mahi. The one in flight likely not the same bird.
