Field Notes

Description:

This is a plant without fruit or flowers, although the leaves were very pretty. The leaf venation was netted pinnate, and the leaf arrangement is alternate. The leaf shape is cordate (heart-shaped). The leaf margins were doubly serrate, and each leaf was large, with a length of 17.5 cm and a width of 21 cm. The leaf texture was soft and leathery, and it was deeply creased with large veins. There were buttress roots as well.

Habitat:

This plant was found by a path in a secondary rainforest in Singapore.
