Field Notes

Description:

Small midge to approximately 4-5mm long.

Habitat:

Riverine habitat, Mitchell River, Brooklyn Conservation Reserve, QLD

Notes:

The midge was very small and it didn't sit still for long, so hard to see details. It flew around but tended to rest in a similar spot. On closer investigation, zooming-in, it had stunning plumose antennae. This individual was identified to genus by Peter Cranston.
