Lueba, I know that they used to sell gold casts of Oncidium (former generic name) orchids at the botanical garden where I worked . I have one too. Do you know where yours came from? I know they were selling them at the Singapore Botanical Garden. BTW, these flowers are no more than 1".
Lovely orchids - the whole arrangement, like Alice says in her comment, looks beautiful, too. I was given a pendant with a small gold-plated orchid inside it - I think set in acrylic or similar. The orchid looked very much like the one in this spotting. Yours is probably a little too big. Anyway, they are beautiful Claire.
Maybe because other flowers in the genus are called Dancing Ladies...they're on a spray and the orchids look like a group of dancers...these are are smaller, like a little doll?
Interesting! Any idea why it's called Dancing Doll?
