Field Notes

Description:

Orange oval disk attached by one end to the bark of a dead tree. Leathery surface, no obvious scent. About 4cm on the long axis, The surface is constant on the top and below the fungus

Habitat:

One of several species of fungi on a dead tree. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/193856031The only fungi of its type found there so far. Unsure of the species of tree. The tree is in a wood in remnant coastal soils on a ridge and which is under heavy invasion by exotic garden species and much disturbed by people and their activities and pets

Thank you gully moy. I am unsure about the tree but I have seen conifers there and never a deciduous so I should label it that way
Ganoderma lucidum/Ganoderma tsugae depending whether the tree is deciduous/conifer respectively.
