Mangrove Cuckoo
Coccyzus minor
15.4113, -61.3654
Field Notes
Description:
largest of North America's three Coccyzus cuckoos, I thought it's call sounded more like a frog or something than a bird
Habitat:
rainforest, 600m
Notes:
I just happened to be relieving myself in the forest where I was camping when I heard this strange call. I looked over and saw this bird just across from me calling. It was the first time I had seen this bird. The call sounds more like a frog's ribbit than a regular bird call. The bird hung around for a little while before flying away.
