Field Notes

Description:

The Canebrake Rattlesnake is a formable predator. Stealth and camouflage is this snakes best asset. Make sure you look where you walk on and off the Florida trails, they like to hide under rocks, ledges, fallen trees and gopher turtle havens (holes).

Habitat:

Generally, this species is found in deciduous forests in rugged terrain. During the summer, gravid (pregnant) females seem to prefer open, rocky ledges where the temperatures are higher, while males and non-gravid females tend to spend more time in cooler, denser woodland with a more closed forest canopy

Notes:

Definitely the reason I have a good nikon zoom lens. I do my best to get great photos of the Vipers in Florida. No photo is ever worth your life or that of the animal i am trying to photograph. Safety First for all!
