Field Notes

Description:

This little winged beetle was around a half-inch and had a little green sheen. It appeared to use some form of bioluminescence to attract prey or possible mates. Fun fact: This beetle is known as both a lighting bug and a firefly!

Habitat:

Small garden in middle Tennessee full of a variety of local and introduced plant life.
