White stem with dark green/olive colored hood, porous like a sponge.

Sub -tropic ,humid,

Notes:

Was covered by small flies, gives off a slightly rotten aroma.

Thank you we got a couple stinky fungi dpwn here.
Haha, that's why they cool them stinkhorns! I've never attempted to ID one before because I've never actually found one, but a little bit of research suggests that P. ravenelii is very likely for yours based on it's appearance and location.
