Description:

These crabs are the largest in the world. These crabs are considered anthropods which have an external skeleton (exoskeleton). They are also considered decapods which have 10 legs. The front two legs have been adapted into pincers which they use to capture their prey.

Habitat:

These crabs live in the Pacific Ocean near Japan. In water which is anywhere from 50-300 meters deep. These crabs are protected in the spring when they move in to shallow waters to lay their eggs, but their numbers are dwindling from being over fished.
