Stink Bug Nymph
Pycanum rubens
1.42549, 103.774
Field Notes
Description:
This bug is the nymph of a stink bug. It was quite small, approximately 1.5 cm long and 0.7 cm wide. The body was flat and red colored, also irregularly shaped (like a rectangle, but the shorter sides are concave). Its head is tiny and pointed, also red, and has two tiny black eyes on each side. This bug had 6 red legs and two antennae, which were grey colored, but red on the tips.
Habitat:
This Stink Bug Nymph was living in Singapore, in a secondary rainforest. It was crawling on the underside of a leaf. The climate there was sunny, and the area it was in was partially shady. I spotted it at 12:51 PM.
Notes:
Stink bugs have glands in their thorax that can produce a stinky smelling liquid that is used to warn off predators.
