Description:
Large butterfly with a yellow base and black stripes. Females of this species also have a dark form that is commonly mistaken for other similarly colored swallowtail butterflies. This butterfly was puddling, drinking liquid from the mud to get nutrients that it is unable to get from nectar.
Habitat:
Temperate forest, freshwater lake shore
