Field Notes

Description:

Wispy fine-textured clumping grass from Southwest U.S. and Mexico grows 1-2 feet tall. Flowers bloom a greenish color in summer to late fall and then mature to a golden color.

Habitat:

Open pine forest floor in Angel Fire, NM at around 8,600 ft.
