Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized diving duck from diving ducks group. Winter male shows a very pale grey body (back, belly and wings) with dark-brown to black glossy chest and tail. It also has a bright chestnut colored head with reddish eye. The beak is black with silvery grey tip. In eclipse, these colors become much duller.

Habitat:

Here seen in winter on lake Leman, central Geneva.
