Description:

The Yellow-washed Metarranthis (Metarranthis obfirmaria) is a moth of the Geometridae family. Broad banded pattern of forewing distinctive. Note also the yellow tint on costal half of hindwing if visible. The wingspan is 26-36 mm. Adults are on wing from late April to July.

Habitat:

It is found in eastern North America, from Nova Scotia and southern Canada to Georgia, west to Kansas. Flight period is April - July. This one was attracted to a porch light in Edgefield County, SC.

Notes:

Larvae feed on blueberries (Vaccinium), Chokecherry (Prunus), and oaks (Quercus). Hodges Number 6832
