Thanks. Found on dead wood by Cypress Lake, Statesboro, Georgia. I checked out photos of the beetle larvae and I agree that it is the same.
Where did you find these. They are almost definitely beetle larvae. In NZ we have a very similar looking grub that turns into a Huhu Beetle (Prionoplus reticularis). The grubs actually live in the dead wood. Hope this helps.
