Field Notes

Description:

These amusing little hermit crabs were running allover the uninhabited Island of Cayo Blanco just off the coast of Cuba. They are very fast and very timid so disappear quickly into their shells if anything comes to near to them (especially curious people with cameras!). These crabs are scavengers feeding on anything from plant and animal remains to over ripe fruit and faeces.

Habitat:

These were seen on an uninhabited Island off the coast of Cuba, they are native to the west Atlantic, Bahamas, Belize, southern Florida,Venezuela, the Virgin Islands, and the West Indies.
