Field Notes

Description:

Body length to approx 4cm. Wings mostly transparent, except for a patch of black and yellow stripes. It was drizzling rain so it hung under the cover of a leaf. Docile.

Habitat:

Forest at Cattana Wetlands QLD

Yes you are right about their flight. It looked as though it was struggling. Slow wing beats.
No worries!! I was so excited to see one, but we were amazed at how slow they are in flight. My hubby described them as "the turtles of the dragonfly world". : )
