Description:

Adult female of Trogon elegans found it near a river. Elegant trogon feeds on insects and fruits. This species is 28–30 centimetres (11–12 in) long and weighs 65–67 grams (2.3–2.4 oz). It is related to the bird of the Maya emperor-gods, the Resplendent Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno).

Habitat:

Thick decidiuous mountain growth. It is a resident of the lower levels of semi-arid open woodlands and forests.
