Field Notes

Description:

checking ones shoes before putting them on is common knowledge but no-one has ever suggested to me that I should check in the toilet paper tube before pulling the paper !!!

The darker colouration of this Tree or Foam nest frog is his 'cool day' outfit, when it sits in the sun, with its legs neatly tucked in to reduce the evaporation surface, then it turns completely white.

Habitat:

in my bathroom, probably checking out potential sheltered over-wintering possibilities. These frogs are commonly found in undisturbed corners of outbuildings or houses, usually at the end of winter when they start to call, piping in the immanent rain.

Notes:

Photo 2 is shortly after I rolled him - I think he still looks a little cross-eyed from the experience. Later the same day he was on the kitchen window sill heading out for more tranquil surroundings no doubt
