Field Notes
Description:
This fungus is a basidiomycete. It grows in colonies. It is very common in all seasons except winter (when it has been found by me). The scattering mechanism is related to the raindrops. When a drop hits the "cup", the spores shoot out.
Habitat:
This fungus grows on wood waste or plant material. In this case, he was in a crack in a wall of limestone.
Notes:
Sometimes spores are eaten by animals. These do not suffer any damage therefore also be found in faeces but not to be confused with the kind Cyathus stercoreus.
