Field Notes

Description:

After we got caught in a bit of a tropical downpour on the way back from seeing the oil birds our guide stopped us as he had spotted this on a leaf and said it was very rare to see and that the blue transparents were usually the only butterflies they saw with clear wings. They are thought to be a toxic species.

Habitat:

Seen on one of the rainforest trails in the grounds of Asa Wright's nature centre.

Thankyou Ajwerko and Duttaqupta I would possibly have walked past it if our guide hadn't pointed it out to us!
