Field Notes

Description:

The smooth, waxy, deeply creased leaves (with large veins) of this tree are oblong with a drip tip. The leaf margin is sinuate, the arrangement is alternate, and the venation is netted pinnate. The length of the leaves is 25cm at the longest point and 10cm at the widest point. The bark of this tree was rough and relatively thin. This tree had buttress roots. The small red leaves sprouting from the bark of the tree (photo #3) is about 5cm long.

Habitat:

Found in a secondary rainforest located in Singapore American School, off of the pathway in a shady area.
