Field Notes

Description:

A mated pair of Bald Eagles in a tree. The one above seemed to be scolding the one below and finally flew down to the branch it was perched on, forcing it to fly off

Habitat:

A tall tree about 300 yards from their nest where I've frequently seen them perched eating their meals

Notes:

This mated pair seemed very accepting of me, my camera, car and presence however I haven't seen this pair for about a week now and worry for their well being. This is the first year I've seen this nest, which is located between two sloughs that attract a lot of waterfowl. There have also been about five, female Ring-necked Pheasants traveling up and down this dirt road. My fear is that someone didn't want the Eagles nesting here in particular but I'll continue driving over there and looking for them in the hopes that I'm just missing them while they're out hunting...
