European white water lily

Nymphaea alba is a perennial. The leaves can be up to 30 cm in diameter and take up a spread of 150 cm per plant. The flowers are white and they have many small stamens inside. It flowers from July to August, and the seeds ripen from August to October. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by flies and beetles. The plant is self-fertile.
