Field Notes

Description:

This is a picture of a leaf that is almost completely decayed. I found it next to a Terentang tree. This leaf was about 24 cm at its longest point and about 12 cm at its widest point. The leaf shape was ELLIPTIC and the margin was not recognizable. The venation was CROSS-VENULATE. The leaf, in this form, was brown. I could see very thin and delicate veins coming out from the thicker veins. I think that if this leaf were still alive and (probably) green, then I would have thought that this leaf's venation was pinnate, but in these photos I can see smaller veins connecting the secondary veins.

Habitat:

I found this almost decayed leaf in a secondary rainforest in Singapore.

Notes:

I cannot figure out what species this leaf came from because it is almost completely decayed.
