Field Notes

Description:

Oval shape. Dove-gray body. White and fuzzy head. Very interesting reproductive habits as I found out MUCH later.

Habitat:

Suntaley khola is a remote village in West Bengal, India with the River Moorti flowing by it. There is only one narrow motorable road that ends by the river. Lots of vegetation growing low. Lots of tall trees. Very biodiverse. Spotted in the resort we stayed at. The moths were everywhere ...we slept with cotton wool stuffed in our ears. This one is on the metal hinge of the door.I wish I had stayed awake and seen this: http://europepmc.org/abstract/med/3817109

How about Creatonotos transiens? http://insecta.pro/taxonomy/89182
It reminds me of a Tiger Moth (Creatonotos wilemani) - but those are more brown than gray...
Or else the tiny hoppers and moths would have got into our ears :) It happened to me in Nepal, once. I learnt my lesson the hard way.
Nice little moth, it has orange hind femora! Why did you sleep with cotton in your ears?
