Field Notes

Description:

This is a specimen of the 'Charles Grimaldi' horticultural cultivar. Every part of Brugmansia suaveolens is potentially toxic, containing atropine, hyoscyamine, and scopolamine alkaloids. The anticholinergic agents in this plant have a history of use as entheogens by native peoples. At high doses however, toxic effects are likely.
