Field Notes

Description:

This 20 mm beetle had bright brick red ridged elytra and darkly tinted hind wings. The abdomen was dorso-ventrally flattened and a glossy black. Antennae had serration along the inner side. The long rostrum is just visible.

Habitat:

Spotted on a tea-tree bush in a nature reserve ( Glenfern Valley Bushlands)

Notes:

Also called net-winged beetle....About to take flight. it was good to be able to capture it with all wings open and abdomen visible. <br>
